Ashton took a deep breath. \u201cSavannah, I have to tell you something. Before we were together, I had an affair with your mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

My heart dropped. \u201cWhat?\u201d I asked, unable to process the words.<\/p>\n

Ashton\u2019s expression was grave. \u201cI didn\u2019t know she was your mom when we started dating. I swear, I didn\u2019t mean for this to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mom was outside, blissfully watering plants, unaware of the turmoil unfolding. I needed answers. \u201cI need to talk to her,\u201d I said, trembling..<\/p>\n

But I felt a surge of anger and betrayal. I insisted on confronting Mom alone. Ashton reluctantly agreed and waited in the car while I approached the house.<\/p>\n

In the living room, I confronted Mom. \u201cAshton said you had an affair with him. Is that true?\u201d<\/p>\n

Mom\u2019s face crumpled with guilt. \u201cSavannah, it was a terrible mistake. I never meant to hurt anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

I was devastated. The woman I had admired had betrayed us. I told Mom I didn\u2019t know if I could forgive her, and I walked away to the kitchen.<\/p>\n

Ashton\u2019s response was cold. \u201cIf you can\u2019t be honest with your father, I don\u2019t know if I can be with you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Desperate, I begged Ashton not to leave, but he walked out. Alone, I felt like my world was collapsing.<\/p>\n

A week later, I received a message from Dad: \u201cI\u2019m leaving. Ashton told me everything about your mom\u2019s affair. I need time to heal. Take care of yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n
