I’ve been married to my husband, Leo, for 22 years. I never thought I\u2019d catch him cheating after all this time, but I did.<\/p>\n

Leo and I have always been inseparable since high school, like a couple from a rom-com. I believed we were meant to be together. He made me laugh and always made me feel special.<\/p>\n

After graduation, we went to different colleges but made our relationship work, taking turns visiting each other. My friend Quinn often told me how lucky I was to have him.<\/p>\n

After four years, we got married in a small ceremony with our closest friends and family. I remember Quinn as my bridesmaid and Leo’s sister, Margaret, treating me like family. The day was perfect, and I thought it was the beginning of forever.<\/p>\n

We settled into our life together and welcomed two daughters, Sophie and Ella. Life felt perfect, and I was convinced I had found my soulmate.<\/p>\n

But everything changed on our 22nd wedding anniversary.<\/p>\n

We planned a celebration at home, inviting family and friends. I was excited about the decorations, and Margaret came over early to help set up.<\/p>\n

While we chatted, she mentioned, \u201cLeo spent two hours picking earrings at my store two weeks ago! I thought you\u2019d wear them today!\u201d<\/p>\n

Confused, I realized I hadn\u2019t received any earrings; Leo had given me a neck massager. I forced a smile, but suspicion grew.<\/p>\n

Later, as guests arrived, I spotted Quinn wearing emerald earrings. No way, I thought. I rushed to Margaret.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre those the earrings Leo bought?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n

Margaret’s eyes widened. \u201cIt’s them. But that means\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes,\u201d I said. \u201cYour brother is a cheater.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heartbroken and humiliated, I couldn\u2019t let them get away with this.<\/p>\n

I approached Quinn, feigning cheerfulness. \u201cThose earrings are stunning! Leo and I were brainstorming what to get you for your birthday!\u201d<\/p>\n

Her face flushed, and she hurried away.<\/p>\n

Then I went to Leo. \u201cI need to talk to you,\u201d I said cheerfully.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe earrings?\u201d he stammered.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy don\u2019t you give them to me now? They\u2019d match my dress perfectly!\u201d<\/p>\n

He hesitated, sweating. \u201cI thought I\u2019d surprise you later,\u201d he lied.<\/p>\n

It was time for the grand reveal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to thank everyone for being here,\u201d I began. \u201cBut if someone told me my husband would gift my best friend emerald earrings on our anniversary\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

The room fell silent.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you know what that\u2019s called? C-H-E-A-T-I-N-G!\u201d<\/p>\n

Everyone turned to Leo and Quinn. Leo went pale; Quinn looked ready to disappear.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow could you, Leo?\u201d someone shouted. \u201cCouldn\u2019t you find anyone other than your best friend\u2019s husband?\u201d<\/p>\n

I left the mic on the table and walked out. I sent him the divorce papers two days later while he begged for forgiveness.<\/p>\n

I know the road ahead will be difficult, but I\u2019m relieved to be rid of someone who didn\u2019t think twice before cheating on me.<\/p>\n
