Three months ago, Theo called while on a trip. “Hey, babe, I want to renovate the house I inherited from Grandpa. Can you handle that while I’m away?”<\/p>\n

Excited, I agreed, but I warned him it would cost a bit. “Just use your money for now, and I’ll pay you back when I get home,” he promised.<\/p>\n

I invested $25,000 in renovations: a new kitchen, bathroom remodel, fresh paint. I envisioned us building a life together there.<\/p>\n

“Theo, I spent $25,000! You promised\u2014”<\/p>\n

“Well, promises change,” he cut me off. “It’s over.”<\/p>\n

Devastated, I left for my parents’ place. Days passed without understanding why he\u2019d left me.<\/p>\n

Curious, I drove by the renovated house and saw a woman watering the flowers I planted.<\/p>\n
