Meredith stood tearfully in front of her husband Justin’s freshly dug grave. Everyone had left after the funeral, but she couldn\u2019t tear her eyes away from the mound of earth.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh, Justin, how happy we were. If only I could see you one more time,\u201d she thought, recalling their first meeting at 16, the spark that convinced her he was the one, and their countless dates that led to 55 years of marriage.<\/p>\n
Justin had been a devoted husband, and while they had struggled with infertility, their love had filled that void\u2014until the tragic call informing her of his death in a car accident. Meredith sat by the grave, sobbing, wishing for just one more moment with him.<\/p>\n
As night fell, she walked into Justin\u2019s study, still infused with his scent. \u201cWhy did this happen to us, Justin?\u201d she cried, remembering how she used to chastise him for working late. She opened his desk drawer, filled with documents she had often despised, longing instead for his return.<\/p>\n
Then something caught her eye\u2014a crumpled piece of paper with an address: “Clara Bamford, 50 Oakland Ave, #206, Florida.” Curiosity piqued, she unfolded the paper and began reading an unfinished letter.<\/p>\n

“Dear Clara,” it began. “Sorry for not being able to find time for you… I can’t wait to see you and little Sophia…” The rest faded away.<\/p>\n
Stunned, Meredith found photos of Justin with a young woman and a little girl. \u201cIs this what you were doing on your business trips?\u201d she sobbed, heartbroken.<\/p>\n
A knock interrupted her despair. It was her friend Jessica. \u201cOh, Jess! Justin\u2026 he was\u2026\u201d she stammered.<\/p>\n
\u201cCalm down, Meredith. It\u2019ll be okay,\u201d Jessica reassured her.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, Jess. Justin was cheating on me!\u201d Meredith cried.<\/p>\n
Jessica’s eyes widened in disbelief. \u201cI can’t believe that. Are you sure?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLook at this,\u201d Meredith handed her the letter.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe he wrote it for someone else?\u201d Jessica suggested, but Meredith felt her world crumbling.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’ll find out the truth. If he was unfaithful, I won’t forgive him,\u201d she vowed, booking a flight to Florida the next day.<\/p>\n
Upon arriving, a young woman opened the door. \u201cAre you Clara Bamford?\u201d Meredith asked, struggling to mask her anger.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes,\u201d Clara replied, confused. \u201cHow do you know my name?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m Justin\u2019s wife. He died last week,\u201d Meredith said, rage boiling inside her.<\/p>\n
Clara\u2019s face fell. \u201cOh my God. He was a father figure to me. I\u2019m so sorry for your loss!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFather figure?\u201d Meredith echoed, bewildered.<\/p>\n
Clara invited her inside and explained how Justin had helped her when she was a struggling teenager, pregnant and abandoned. \u201cHe was a generous soul, always there for me and my daughter Sophia.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meredith felt shame wash over her. \u201cI shouldn\u2019t have judged him,\u201d she admitted.<\/p>\n
Just then, the door opened, and a tall man entered with a little girl. \u201cI\u2019m Tyler, Clara\u2019s husband,\u201d he said, extending condolences. \u201cJustin helped Clara immensely.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you,\u201d Meredith said, feeling grateful.<\/p>\n
Later, Clara called to say they were moving to New York and asked to stay with Meredith temporarily. Their bond grew quickly, and soon they were family. Little Sophia even called her “Grandma Meredith.”<\/p>\n
As Meredith gazed at the stars one evening, she whispered, \u201cI wish you were here, Justin. Clara, Tyler, and Sophia have filled my life with joy. Please be happy wherever you are. I love you!\u201d<\/p>\n
