Mike rolled his eyes, ignoring her. Just then, a chic, younger customer walked in. Mike instantly shifted his attention, welcoming her enthusiastically.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, your colleague here thinks I\u2019m not worth the time. Could you help me?\u201d Betty replied.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course! What are you looking for?\u201d Cassey said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking for a wedding dress. I want to go all out for my summer wedding,\u201d Betty said.<\/p>\n
Cassey smiled and led her to some beautiful options. Betty ended up choosing one of the store’s most expensive dresses. Meanwhile, the younger customer, after trying on multiple dresses, decided not to buy anything.<\/p>\n
\u201cDid you even intend on buying anything?\u201d Mike snapped.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just needed some snaps for social media,\u201d she said, before leaving.<\/p>\n
Mike turned back to see Cassey at the till as Betty opened a bag filled with cash. Betty paid for the dress and left a $5000 tip. Mike was shocked.<\/p>\n
\u201cUhm… That\u2019s quite the tip, ma\u2019am,\u201d he said nervously.<\/p>\n
\u201cMa\u2019am? I was grandma not too long ago,\u201d Betty replied with a smile.<\/p>\n
Mike stammered, \u201cIf I\u2019d known that\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you\u2019d known what? That I don\u2019t shop at thrift stores? You\u2019ve heard what they say about assumptions, right?\u201d she said, leaving Mike embarrassed.<\/p>\n
Betty turned to Cassey. \u201cThank you! I\u2019ll see you at the wedding, yeah?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSure thing! It\u2019s my pleasure,\u201d Cassey replied.<\/p>\n
As Betty exited, Mike was left dumbfounded. \u201cI\u2014I don\u2019t understand,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Cassey laughed, explaining that Betty was a nurse marrying a widowed millionaire, whom she met while caring for him in the hospital. Mike felt ashamed of his prejudice.<\/p>\n
Cassey advised him to learn from this experience. That summer, he celebrated with Betty and her family at their wedding.<\/p>\n
