I noticed small changes, especially Liam\u2019s sudden obsession with the bathroom. He\u2019d always been quick, but over the last six months, he started spending hours in there. I brushed it off at first, thinking he might just need more alone time. But then I began hearing strange noises\u2014thuds and grunts\u2014that made me uneasy.<\/p>\n

One night, I knocked softly on the bathroom door. \u201cLiam? Everything alright in there?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, just\u2026 taking my time,\u201d he replied, his voice strained.<\/p>\n

His secrecy grew. He started locking the door, which he never did before. When I casually asked about it, he snapped, \u201cCan\u2019t a guy have some privacy?\u201d My curiosity turned into worry. What was he hiding?<\/p>\n

Then, one afternoon, I heard his phone buzz on the counter while he was locked in the bathroom. It was his mom calling. \u201cCan you get it? I\u2019m busy!\u201d he shouted from inside. I answered, but when I glanced at his phone, I noticed an open video thumbnail recorded just an hour ago.<\/p>\n

Heart racing, I clicked play. To my shock, there was Liam, exercising in the bathroom! He was doing push-ups and sit-ups, clearly pushing himself hard.<\/p>\n

Relief washed over me. That\u2019s what he was doing? I marched to the bathroom door and knocked firmly. \u201cLiam! Open the door. We need to talk.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a moment, he unlocked it, looking flushed and holding a resistance band. \u201cYou saw the video, didn\u2019t you?\u201d he asked, defeated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat on earth is going on?\u201d I asked, trying to understand.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve put on weight\u2014nine kilos in the last few months,\u201d he admitted, shame written all over his face. \u201cI didn\u2019t want you to see me like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLiam, everyone gains weight sometimes. You didn\u2019t need to hide it!\u201d I exclaimed, my frustration melting away.<\/p>\n

He sighed. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to worry you. I thought you\u2019d think less of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

I couldn\u2019t help but laugh at the absurdity. \u201cYou could\u2019ve just told me! I\u2019d support you no matter what.\u201d<\/p>\n

He smiled sheepishly, and I felt a weight lift. \u201cNext time, let\u2019s work out together. No more secrets, okay?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay,\u201d he whispered, pulling me into a hug.<\/p>\n

In that moment, everything felt right again. We both laughed, realizing that sometimes, the things we\u2019re afraid to admit are what bring us closer.<\/p>\n
