\u201cDaddy, do you have to go?\u201d my 6-year-old daughter Dolly whispered, clutching my sleeve. It felt like a knife to my heart. I scooped her up, wishing I didn\u2019t have to leave her for a business trip.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll be back before you know it, princess,\u201d I promised. \u201cAnd I\u2019m bringing you that Barbie playhouse you\u2019ve been dreaming about!\u201d<\/p>\n

Her face lit up, but each step toward the gate felt heavier. This trip wasn\u2019t just about work; it was about securing a future for Dolly, who needed heart surgery in three months. I had to finish my presentation on the flight.<\/p>\n

Once seated in economy, I pulled out my laptop, knowing it was vital for my career\u2014and for Dolly\u2019s future. My mind wandered to her mother, who passed away from cancer three years ago. Raising Dolly alone was tough, but her smile kept me going.<\/p>\n

\u201cSir, would you like a drink?\u201d the flight attendant asked, snapping me back to reality. Just then, the man in front of me barked for red wine, a picture of entitlement in his pristine white suit.<\/p>\n

Before I could blink, his seat slammed back, nearly smashing into my laptop. \u201cHey! What are you doing?\u201d I shouted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s your problem?\u201d he replied, sneering. \u201cI paid for this seat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you please put it up a bit? I\u2019m trying to work!\u201d I pleaded.<\/p>\n

He merely laughed. \u201cMaybe if you knew how to work with your hands, you wouldn\u2019t be whining.\u201d He reclined even further, and with a sickening crack, my screen shattered.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey!\u201d I yelled, but he just smirked. \u201cGuess you\u2019ll have to learn how to fix things.\u201d<\/p>\n

My heart raced, thinking of Dolly\u2019s disappointment. But just as I stood up, the seat in front reclined hard, knocking his wine all over him and breaking his phone.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook what you did!\u201d he shouted, spluttering red wine everywhere.<\/p>\n

Karma had stepped in. The flight attendant tried to calm him, but he raged on, demanding to speak to the pilot.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, I opened my phone. Thank goodness I had saved my presentation to the cloud. I might salvage this.<\/p>\n

By the time we landed, Mr. White Suit was moved to a different seat, his girlfriend mortified. I caught his eye as we disembarked; he looked momentarily ashamed.<\/p>\n

My boss was waiting. \u201cWhat happened?\u201d he asked, chuckling when I explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t worry about the laptop. We\u2019ll get you a new one. Let\u2019s focus on that presentation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Relief washed over me. As I dialed home, Dolly\u2019s voice came through, bright as sunshine. \u201cDid you get my Barbie house?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNot yet, sweetheart. But I promise I will.\u201d<\/p>\n

As she chatted about our plans, I reflected on the flight. In a way, I felt grateful to Mr. White Suit. His behavior reminded me what truly mattered: the love in my daughter\u2019s voice and the trust in her eyes.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m relieved and amazed by how karma works its magic\u2014even at 30,000 feet. Who knows? Maybe that rude passenger is learning to be kinder.<\/p>\n
