I\u2019ve been dating Lily, the love of my life, for about a year, and it was finally time for her to meet my parents, who live overseas. I was excited to host them for breakfast, envisioning a warm and welcoming gathering.<\/p>\n

As we started the morning with coffee and pancakes, everything seemed perfect\u2014until I noticed my parents\u2019 strange behavior. They interrupted Lily, exchanged dismissive glances, and acted unimpressed whenever she talked about her job or family.<\/p>\n

After breakfast, I excused myself to grab some napkins and overheard my mom whispering to my dad. \u201cI can\u2019t believe our boy is into this! Didn\u2019t we raise him right?\u201d she said, followed by my dad suggesting they offer Lily money to disappear\u2014initially $5,000, then $10,000. My heart sank.<\/p>\n

I quickly told Lily everything, and to my surprise, she didn\u2019t get angry; instead, a mischievous smirk appeared on her face. Together, we devised a plan to turn the tables on my parents.<\/p>\n

The next day, I called them for a serious chat over coffee. As the conversation shifted towards Lily and our future, my dad, feigning reluctance, slid an envelope stuffed with cash towards her. Lily played her part perfectly, her eyes widening as she opened it.<\/p>\n

Then came the moment of truth. With calmness, I revealed, \u201cI know about the money,\u201d and \u201cI heard what you said earlier in the kitchen.\u201d The color drained from their faces as realization hit them.<\/p>\n

My parents had judged Lily based on her background, deeming her \u201cunworthy.\u201d Their prejudices had blinded them to who she truly was. Grasping the cash, I couldn\u2019t help but smirk. \u201cThanks for the money, Mom and Dad. We\u2019ll find a good use for it,\u201d I said, sarcasm dripping from my words.<\/p>\n

Stunned, they left without another word. Lily and I burst into laughter, relieved and empowered. \u201cWe\u2019ll use this for our wedding fund,\u201d she joked, squeezing my hand, \u201cand maybe donate some to charity to cleanse it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not only did we keep our relationship intact, but we also turned their misguided plan into something positive. My parents learned a hard lesson about respect, while Lily and I emerged even stronger as a couple.<\/p>\n
