Flying is not a pleasant experience for everyone. Some people make sure that before they set off on their trip, they take measures to ensure their comfort. But not everyone is mindful of the same thing.<\/p>\n
This woman knew what she required when traveling and did exactly that. However, there were others who did not see it that way\u2026<\/p>\n
A woman found herself in a tough spot, both in a physical sense and emotionally. She was caught between wanting to feel comfortable and what society expected of her. She had a choice to make: be kind to others or defend her own space.<\/p>\n
As she traveled across the country to celebrate Christmas with her family, she realized that comfort was key for her during the flight. Because of her size, she always reserves an extra seat to make sure she can relax. She doesn\u2019t mind spending a little more money to guarantee her comfort.<\/p>\n
Everything went well during check-in, and she breezed through security and boarding. However, things took a turn once she settled into her seat. Next to her was a woman with an 18-month-old child. The woman noticed an empty seat and asked if the mother could squeeze into one seat so her toddler could have the other. But since the mother had paid for both seats, she said no.<\/p>\n
As the situation started to draw attention, a flight attendant came over to see what was happening. After hearing the story, the flight attendant asked the mother if she could make some space for the child, but the mother politely refused, reminding her that she had paid for both seats.<\/p>\n
The flight attendant understood and told the mother to hold her child on her lap, which is what most parents do with toddlers. Throughout the flight, though, the mother kept giving the woman dirty looks and making snarky comments to make her feel uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

\nLater, the woman wondered whether she had been unfair in this interaction and should have relented and given up her extra seat. She took to Reddit to ask the community on whether she had been wrong.<\/p>\n
One person, who was a mother herself and had been in a similar situation wrote, \u201cI\u2019ve taken 9-hour flights with an infant in my arms and shorter flights with a toddler in my lap, who was capable of sitting in his own seat and very much did not want me to hold him. Did it suck? Yes. But it was my problem alone, and as long as my child was under 24 months and I didn\u2019t have to pay for his seat, I chose to hold him. I swear, not all of us parents are this entitled!\u201d<\/p>\n
Another person added, \u201cShe\u2019s wrong for not buying a seat for her son and assuming someone else would give up a seat they paid for. Odds are she was hoping there\u2019d be extra seats on the flight so she didn\u2019t have to pay and used the lap thing as a loophole.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cI\u2019d go so far as making a complaint to the airline about their employee supporting another passenger harassing you,\u201d another outraged Redditor wrote.<\/p>\n
One frustrated user expressed, \u201cIt\u2019s important to do your best to stay healthy, but being overweight isn\u2019t a flaw in your character or a sign of being a bad person. Everyone faces their own struggles, and you shouldn\u2019t feel embarrassed about your body or who you are, even if you\u2019re not hitting your goals right now. If the mom needs an extra seat for her kids, she should have bought one. She can\u2019t just take the seat you paid for, and you shouldn\u2019t feel guilty about her poor choices.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the other hand, some people might understand the mother\u2019s perspective of wanting a comfortable flight. But if that was really important to her, she should have made sure to get a seat for her child ahead of time.<\/p>\n
