<\/div>\nNot long after meeting in class, the two started spending more time together, exchanging \u201cnotes, drawings and little scribblings\u2019 on paper napkins over coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n
And then, coffee became dinner and \u201cscribblings\u201d turned into thoughtfully composed cards and letters.<\/p>\n
\u201cInto her scrapbook they went, and the collection took on a life of its own,\u201d Bresnan shares.<\/p>\n
Over time, their relationship only grew stronger and after their small wedding in New Jersey, Bresnan continued writing his wife love letters.<\/p>\n
Treasure trove of love<\/h2>\n
In 2015, Bresnan and \u201cKrissy\u201d as he calls her, celebrated their 40th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary by reliving a lifetime filled with love and passion.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery day \u2013 365 days per year, each year \u2013 I write to my wife,\u201d Bresnan writes.<\/p>\n The couple opened 25 boxes in their attic, a treasure trove of sentimental writings from Bresnan to Kirsten, each letter signed with \u201cI love you madly, my Darling\u201d followed by two kisses and an infinity symbol.<\/p>\n There were more than 10,000 letters neatly filed in those boxes.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re essentially a love diary. For example, I could pick out a day in 1982, and it\u2019ll begin with the restaurant we ate in or a movie we saw and then a reaction to that,\u201d he tells ABC News.<\/p>\n The adoring husband never missed giving Kirsten a card, and even when apart, Bresnan mailed postcards or wrote letters in advance.<\/p>\n \u201cMy biggest fear now, given my age, is forgetting, but luckily I\u2019m still pretty sharp,\u201d said Bresnan, who in 2015 was 74. \u201cI\u2019m crazy about her, that\u2019s the only way I can describe it.\u201d<\/p>\n Explaining the two have \u201cnever had a fight once\u201d in 40 years of marriage, he says they \u201cmight disagree on something,\u201d but prefer to talk \u201cthan argue.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked for his secret to a successful marriage, Bresnan replied, \u201cThe key to any relationship is that you both have to work at it every day\u2026And never go to bed mad. Talk about everything. Everything should get resolved before your goodnight kiss.\u201d<\/p>\n He adds, \u201cI see youngsters at restaurants sitting across from each other buried in their screens but never talking or looking at each other.
