Every day, Adam and Peter, two young boys, would spot an elderly man sitting in a chair by the beach.<\/p>\n
The man looked like he never talked to anyone, or at least that\u2019s what their mom, Alice, always said. \u201cBoys, don\u2019t disturb him. He\u2019s been sitting there every day for as long as I can recall,\u201d she would tell them.<\/p>\n
But both Adam and Peter were curious to learn more about the old man.
\nOne day, while playing catch with their frisbee, the boys threw it right at the old man\u2019s feet, trying to approach him.<\/p>\n

The elderly man picked up the frisbee and said, \u201cYou throw really well,\u201d pointing at Adam, \u201cand you catch like a pro,\u201d he said to Peter, \u201cso I can tell you threw it right here on purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n
The boys were taken aback. They had no clue the old man had been watching them. Even more surprising was that he actually talked to them, since they heard he never spoke to anyone.<\/p>\n
After discussing the beach and the weather, the boys couldn\u2019t resist asking him why he came to the same spot every day.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, boys,\u201d the old man began, \u201cmy brother and I fought in the war together, and when I got back to the States, I lost touch with him. But we promised to meet again here one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adam asked, \u201cHow do you know he\u2019s coming?\u201d The old man replied, \u201cThat\u2019s the thing. I really don\u2019t.\u201d He went on to share that he had spent many years in another country, but for the past ten years, he had come back to his hometown and the beach where he hoped to see his brother again someday. The only thing he had left from his brother was a tag from his army dog.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo you\u2019ve been here every day for ten years?\u201d the boys asked, looking puzzled.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, I have,\u201d the old man, who called himself Walter, said. \u201cAnd do you know why?\u201d he asked the boys. \u201cBecause the love between brothers is the strongest force in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the days to come, the boys and Walter became sort of friends.
\nThey would bring drinks and sandwiches and he would wait for them with his stories about his brother, the war, his job, and his life.<\/p>\n

One day, Adam and Peter thought it would be a good idea to share Walter\u2019s story on social media, hoping that someone who knew his brother might see it. They even uploaded some old pictures of Walter and his brother from when they were kids. Walter had given them those photos during their visit to his house, which was just a few doors down from theirs.<\/p>\n
They wanted to surprise the old man and were excited to tell him about it after their trip with their mom.<\/p>\n
When Peter and Adam got back home after spending two weeks with their grandma, they headed straight to the beach. But to their surprise, Walter was nowhere in sight.<\/p>\n
Peter frowned as he gazed at the waves. \u201cThis doesn\u2019t make any sense. Something must have happened to him. We should go check on him at his house,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The boys and their mom headed right over to Walter\u2019s house. When they knocked, Walter opened the door with a big smile. Right behind him was a man who looked a lot like the old man.<\/p>\n
\u201cHey, boys! This is my brother. He saw what you posted on your computer and came to find me,\u201d he said with a chuckle.<\/p>\n
Peter and Adam couldn\u2019t believe their eyes.
\n\u201cBut how could this be?\u201d the asked, wanting to learn more.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
Walter\u2019s brother was found to have dissociative amnesia, which made it hard for him to recall parts of his past. Over the last few years, he had been getting better. However, everything changed when he came across a viral post made by the boys, and suddenly, all his memories came flooding back.<\/p>\n
Because of Adam and Peter, the two brothers reunited after being apart for forty-four years.<\/p>\n
This story reminds us that hope is always important to hold onto.<\/p>\n
