Three years ago, I met Matt at a charity event.

My heart raced as I shook my head, and then, on the nightstand, I noticed a note: \u201cI have to disappear. Soon, you\u2019ll understand.\u201d<\/p>\n
I tried calling as discreetly as possible, but he still didn\u2019t respond.<\/p>\n
Just in case, I called the front desk to see if they had heard from Matt. They had not. I left additional messages on his phone. When morning arrived, there was nothing left to do but pack and leave.<\/p>\n
When we eventually arrived, I was fatigued.
\nBut as soon as I got inside, I came to a complete halt.<\/p>\n
A blanket-wrapped bundle lay in the center of the living room. It moved.<\/p>\n
\u201cA puppy!\u201d Ella squealed and dropped her backpack. \u201cIt\u2019s a puppy!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cDorothy, I know this was sudden, and I probably acted too rashly, but let me explain. I was scrolling through my phone at the hotel when I saw my friend giving away pups online. I had to leave immediately to make sure this little guy would be ours.<\/p>\n

I slumped into the couch, shaking my head as my entire body felt relieved. My silly fianc\u00e9 had terrified me to d.e.a.t.h! But he had done it for a wonderful reason.<\/p>\n
