The choice I made next would change everything.<\/p>\n<p>After the ceremony, I frantically dialed my mom. \u201cMom? Where are you guys?\u201d I asked, worried. She responded, \u201cSorry we didn\u2019t come. You gotta forgive us. Hurry home.\u201d Anxiety gnawed at me as I drove home. Miles had a seizure. I\u2019m so sorry. Love, Mom.\u201d I rushed to the hospital, my anger growing. In the hospital room, my parents hovered over Miles, who looked fine. \u201cYou missed my graduation,\u201d I said, trying to control my anger.<\/p>\n<p>Miles admitted, \u201cI just\u2026 I couldn\u2019t stand the thought of you all being there for her and not me.\u201d Realizing they always chose him over me, I left, deciding I needed to prioritize my own happiness.
