The following day, I went to a neighborhood restaurant and got a job cleaning tables in the evenings. After concluding my day at the software company, I\u2019d go right there to clean.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve never questioned it. I absolutely trusted him.<\/p>\n

\nOn my way to the restaurant, a white SUV drove up alongside me. The window gently rolled down, revealing a stunning woman with dark glasses and neatly styled hair.<\/p>\n

What was that about?<\/p>\n
Her words echoed in my mind during the walk to the restaurant. Why would a random woman say that? And how does she know Kyle?<\/p>\n
Kyle packed his customary bag the next morning and kissed my cheek before leaving.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll be back around three,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve got two procedures today. The other one\u2019s at night.\u201d<\/p>\n
When he departed, I went directly to his laptop.<\/p>\n
My hands shook when I accessed his financial app.
\nNo payments were made to medical facilities. There are no hospital expenses. No doctor\u2019s expenses. Nothing.<\/p>\n
Instead, I noticed restaurant bills, golf club memberships, high-end apparel stores, and even a fee for a weekend getaway to a destination I had never heard of.<\/p>\n
Later that evening, I decided to follow him as he left for his \u201cspecial session.\u201d<\/p>\n
He visited a little bar downtown. A spot where individuals may relax and unwind.<\/p>\n
They laughed loudly and carelessly, and my heart broke into pieces.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd she\u2019s still giving you money?\u201d another friend asked, shaking his head in disbelief.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe even picked up a part-time job to make sure I\u2019m covered. I gotta say, being married to someone so gullible has its perks.\u201d<\/p>\n
His words sliced into me like a knife.
\nAs I was about to leave, I noticed the same white SUV outside the pub. When the woman from before saw me, she rolled down her window.<\/p>\n
She sighed. \u201cI\u2019m sorry you had to find out this way. My boyfriend is one of his friends. When I heard what they were doing\u2026 I couldn\u2019t stay silent. You deserved to know.\u201d<\/p>\n
The following morning, I took action.<\/p>\n
I called his office and informed them that he was well enough to return to work.<\/p>\n
Then I went to the bank and froze our joint accounts. With the remaining funds, I paid off our mortgage and established a new account in my name.<\/p>\n
When I was done, I texted Kyle.<\/p>\n
It read, Kyle, treat your vanity and your cruelty \u2014 that\u2019s your real illness. Don\u2019t bother coming home.<\/p>\n
Then I packed my belongings, changed the front door lock, and brought the boys with me to my parents\u2019 house. I did not want to see Kyle\u2019s face again.<\/p>\n
