The sequel, which will be called Freakier Friday, was announced in May of last year and is set to be released later this year, on August 8. TRAILER BELOW:<\/p>\n<p>The show will once again star Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as mother and daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman in the hit flick.<\/p>\n<p>Joining them in coming back from the first film will be Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Stephen Tobolowsky, Lucille Soong and Rosalind Chao.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, actors Manny Jacinto and Julia Butters made the casting, with Nisha Gantra getting the nod to take over the reigns from Mark Waters. Gantra directed the Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson film Late Night.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23605 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/ezzuye.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-14-180407.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"538\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ezzuye.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-14-180407.png 720w, https:\/\/ezzuye.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-14-180407-300x224.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For those of us who aren\u2019t familiar with the original cult film, in a hilarious turn of events on one particular Friday, the movie sees the leading pair switch bodies after they have a heated argument and subsequently take on \u2013 and get a deeper insight into \u2013 each other\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<p>Freaky Friday was a hit at the box office and has an impressive Tomatoemeter score of 88 per cent \u2013 it\u2019s an easy watch and go-to favourite for a reason.<\/p>\n<p>The movie went on to gross over $160 million worldwide on a budget of just $26 million, marking it a total commercial success.<\/p>\n<p>So, what\u2019s in store for the long-awaited Freakier Friday?<\/p>\n<p>Well, the synopsis reads: \u201cYears after Tess and Anna endured an identity crisis, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Freakier Friday - Official Teaser Trailer (2025) Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan\" width=\"790\" height=\"444\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kmTCYbz_St8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs they navigate the challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might strike twice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fans have flooded to Twitter to share their excitement of the new film.<\/p>\n<p>One user wrote: \u201cI speak for everyone when I say we will be watching.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis could be more fun than the original. Count me in,\u201d a second added.<\/p>\n<p>While a third posted: \u201cIM SOOOO EXCITED!!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2023, 20 years on from when the original 2003 hit movie came out, Curtis uploaded a selfie of herself and Lohan next to one another beaming at the camera to her Instagram account.<\/p>\n<p>The caption read: \u201cToo late.
