I let out a humorless chuckle. \u201cSo, no free money?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, sweetheart. Because if I just gave you money, you\u2019d be right back in this position in a few months.\u201d<\/p>\n
I wanted to argue. I wanted to be mad at her. But deep down, I knew she was right. I had been relying on the idea that if things got really bad, she would step in and fix them. I had never really learned to stand on my own two feet financially.<\/p>\n
