I smiled. \u201cThat\u2019s good, Doug. You\u2019re doing great.\u201d<\/p>\n
He sighed. \u201cYou\u2019re really doing this, huh? Turning me into one of those people who talks about gratitude and feelings?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHey,\u201d I said, nudging him. \u201cYou\u2019re not being forced to do anything. But maybe, just maybe, this is exactly what you need. I\u2019m glad we\u2019re here.\u201d<\/p>\n
The next activity involved trust falls. When Doug was asked to fall backward and let his partner catch him, I knew it was coming. His face went pale.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re not making me do this,\u201d he said, wide-eyed. \u201cYou can\u2019t make me fall. I don\u2019t trust anyone enough for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The months that followed weren\u2019t without challenges. Doug and I worked together more as a team, and I learned to communicate my needs more clearly. I didn\u2019t quit my job entirely, but I did ask for a more flexible schedule. Doug, now more understanding, supported me through the remainder of my pregnancy.<\/p>\n
