After years of failed fertility treatments, we were finally going to be parents. I promised her I\u2019d be an amazing dad.<\/p>\n<p>But when Debra went into labor, everything changed. I was in a panic when her water broke, rushing to get her to the hospital. As I was about to drive her, I got a call from my mom\u2019s nurse\u2014my mom had suffered a heart attack and was near death.<\/p>\n<p>Torn between Debra and my mom, I told Debra the news. Despite being in pain, Debra insisted I go to my mom. \u201cYour mom needs you,\u201d she said. I called a taxi for Debra to go to the hospital alone while I rushed to my mother\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>When I arrived, I received the devastating news that my mom had passed. I was heartbroken, barely holding it together. Just as I was lost in grief, my phone rang\u2014it was Debra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a daughter. She\u2019s beautiful,\u201d she said. I barely managed to respond before telling her, \u201cMom\u2019s gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But then Debra sent me a picture of our baby girl, and I saw it\u2014the resemblance to my mom.
