As a middle-class working family, these demands were not just out of our budget but also inappropriate for a 14-year-old. I couldn\u2019t fathom getting my daughter eyelash extensions, acrylic nails, and hair extensions. And the latest iPad Pro? That was a luxury I couldn\u2019t justify.<\/p>\n
The Lesson Plan<\/h2>\n
Determined to teach her a lesson about gratitude and the value of money, I decided to give her a birthday she\u2019d never forget. It was time to show her that material possessions were not the key to happiness.<\/p>\n

On the day of her birthday, I woke her up with a homemade breakfast and handed her a small wrapped box. She unwrapped it eagerly, expecting one of her desired items. Inside was a simple note that read, \u201cToday, we learn the value of hard work and gratitude.\u201d<\/p>\n
