The next morning, as Michael and I were having breakfast, my phone buzzed. It was my cousin, Jen.<\/p>\n
\u201cVivian called my mom ugly at our wedding,\u201d I said, my blood boiling.<\/p>\n
Michael ran a hand through his hair. \u201cI\u2019ll talk to her, okay?\u201d<\/p>\n
But I was already formulating a plan. \u201cNo, I\u2019ve got this.\u201d<\/p>\n
I contacted our wedding photographer with a special request: to highlight any unflattering shots of Vivian and do some creative editing.<\/p>\n

Mom pulled me into a hug. \u201cI know, sweetie. I love you too. But sometimes, the best revenge is living well and being happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The next day, we invited Vivian over and apologized. She admitted she was out of line, and I agreed to have the photos fixed.<\/p>\n
The following week, we all met for dinner. It was awkward at first, but as the night wore on, the tension began to ease.<\/p>\n
\u201cSophia,\u201d Vivian said quietly. \u201cI\u2019m sorry for what I said and for how I\u2019ve acted. You\u2019re good for my son, and I hope we can move past this.\u201d<\/p>\n
