We were heading to visit his family for the holidays. Clark volunteered to book the flights, which I thought was a relief. Big mistake.<\/p>\n

At the airport, I asked, \u201cClark, where are our seats?\u201d I was juggling our toddler and a diaper bag while navigating the crowded terminal.<\/p>\n

Clark, absorbed in his phone, mumbled, \u201cOh, um, about that\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

I felt a knot form in my stomach. \u201cWhat do you mean, \u2018about that\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

Onboard, I noticed the stark contrast between first class and economy. Clark and Nadia were sipping champagne, while I struggled with our carry-on.<\/p>\n

\u201cMommy, I want to sit with Daddy!\u201d our five-year-old whined.<\/p>\n

Settled in economy, I remembered I had Clark\u2019s wallet. While they were engrossed in conversation at security, I discreetly lifted it from his carry-on.<\/p>\n

Two hours into the flight, my kids were asleep, and I watched Clark ordering gourmet meals, indulging in every luxury.<\/p>\n

When a flight attendant asked me if I wanted anything, I said, \u201cJust water and maybe some popcorn.\u201d<\/p>\n

About thirty minutes later, I saw Clark frantically searching his pockets. His face turned pale as he realized his wallet was missing. The flight attendant stood firm, waiting for payment.<\/p>\n

Clark\u2019s desperate attempts to avoid paying were met with no sympathy. I enjoyed my popcorn, savoring the show.<\/p>\n

Finally, Clark approached me, looking like a scolded schoolboy. \u201cSoph, I can\u2019t find my wallet. Please tell me you have some cash.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh no, how much do you need?\u201d I asked innocently.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout $1500,\u201d he said, wincing.<\/p>\n

I nearly choked. \u201cFifteen hundred bucks? What did you order, the blue whale?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, it doesn\u2019t matter. Do you have it or not?\u201d<\/p>\n

I rummaged through my purse. \u201cI\u2019ve got about $200. Will that help?\u201d<\/p>\n

His relief was palpable. \u201cIt\u2019s better than nothing. Thanks.\u201d<\/p>\n

As he turned to leave, I added sweetly, \u201cHey, doesn\u2019t your mom have her credit card? I\u2019m sure she\u2019d be happy to help!\u201d<\/p>\n

Clark\u2019s face drained of color as he realized he\u2019d have to ask his mother for help. This was better than any revenge I could have planned.<\/p>\n

The rest of the flight was delightfully awkward. Clark and Nadia sat in silence, their first-class experience thoroughly ruined. Meanwhile, I relished my economy seat with a new joy.<\/p>\n

As we landed, Clark grumbled about his missing wallet. I bit my lip, holding back a grin. Maybe his loss of dignity was worth the price.<\/p>\n
