My heart dropped. \u201cA change of plans? What do you mean?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jake appeared, looking uncomfortable. \u201cUh, Emily\u2026 Mom doesn\u2019t think it\u2019s the right time for you to move in.\u201d<\/p>\n

I was stunned. \u201cJake, we\u2019ve been planning this for months! Everything I own is in that truck!\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Henderson\u2019s voice was firm. \u201cI\u2019ve decided it\u2019s not appropriate for you two to live together right now. You should focus on your careers.\u201d<\/p>\n

I felt devastated. I turned to Jake, desperate for him to support us. \u201cJake, are you serious? After everything we\u2019ve planned?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jake looked down, avoiding my gaze. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, Emily, but maybe Mom\u2019s right. Maybe we should wait.\u201d<\/p>\n
