Three days passed, and I struggled to keep things normal for Tommy, who missed his mom. Each day, I worried about Jane\u2019s safety and the reason for her sudden disappearance. I even had to cover up Tommy\u2019s presence at my house, removing his photos and belongings to prevent any unwanted attention.<\/p>\n

Then, a video call from Jane appeared on my phone. My heart skipped a beat. She looked exhausted and strained. \u201cMom, I\u2019m sorry,\u201d she said, but her explanation was vague. She was on a secret work mission and couldn\u2019t reveal her location. Her reassurances did little to calm my fears.<\/p>\n
