Grateful for his support, I felt a wave of relief. As the evening continued, a waiter brought out a special treat\u2014a beautifully decorated Styrofoam cake, served with notes that read, \u201cFor those with truly tasteless appetites.\u201d<\/p>\n
Linda\u2019s face turned beet red as guests laughed. Even William couldn\u2019t help but chuckle. Linda\u2019s friends were humiliated, but the room was filled with laughter and approval from the other guests.<\/p>\n
Alex approached me, proud but with a sad smile. \u201cYou handled that perfectly. I wish it hadn\u2019t come to this, but I\u2019m sorry Mom acted so poorly.\u201d<\/p>\n
I hugged him, feeling supported and loved. \u201cThank you, Alex. I appreciate your understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n
