I Found a Love Note Written on Our Bathroom Mirror – But It Wasn’t Meant for Me

When Madison sees a note on the bathroom mirror, she thinks it’s a sweet gesture from her husband, Ryan, after their night out. But when she talks to him about it, his awkwardness raises her suspicions. Could Ryan be cheating on her?

It started quietly, with a sweet moment between us. I was getting ready for the day when I noticed a love note written on a Post-it on the fogged-up bathroom mirror:

*Miss you already, last night was amazing! XOXO.*

I thought Ryan had left me a surprise. After a few years of marriage, little things like that can brighten your day.

We had gone out for dinner the night before, and I had too many cocktails, so I just hopped into bed, makeup and all. I slept soundly and only noticed the note now.

I texted him immediately:

*Hey Babe! I saw your little note on the mirror. So cute! I loved it! 😘*

But his reply wasn’t what I expected:

*Uh, what note, Madison?*

That was odd. Maybe he forgot? I sent him a picture of the mirror and waited. When he replied, his tone felt off.

*Oh! Haha! Yeah, right, I left that for you! I totally forgot!*

Something about his message didn’t sit right. I couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe the note wasn’t meant for me at all.

Was Ryan cheating?

The entire day, my mind raced. I told myself I was overreacting. Ryan wouldn’t do something like that. We were solid, weren’t we?

When Ryan got home, he kissed me, completely oblivious to my turmoil. Later, I did something I never thought I would: I went through his phone. Everything looked clean—too clean. No signs of an affair. But something felt off.

A few days later, Ryan came home earlier than usual. He seemed tense and said his dad was coming over for help with his laptop. Bob rarely visited, especially lately.

That week, Ryan’s mom, Claire, called me, sounding upset.

“Have you seen Bob around?” she asked.

“Yes, he was here the other day,” I replied.

That’s when I realized Bob had been over too often. The next time he visited, I parked around the corner. A woman walked up to my door!

What the heck?

I waited a few minutes, then quietly approached the house. The shower was running. Through the crack in the door, I saw Bob—he was in the shower with a woman who definitely wasn’t my mother-in-law.

I flung the door open. They both looked startled. Bob fumbled for excuses, but I knew the truth: he was using my house for his affair.

Later that night, I confronted Ryan. His face went pale when I told him what I had seen. At first, he denied it, but eventually admitted he had been covering for his father.

“I didn’t want to get involved,” he said weakly.

I was furious. My husband wasn’t cheating, but he had been lying.

We argued for hours. I told him to sleep in the living room.

The next morning, I called Claire and told her everything.

“Pack your bags, Madison,” she said. “We’re leaving.”

We checked into a hotel using money Bob had given Claire for her birthday. By the end of the week, we both filed for divorce.

Now, Claire and I are renting a cute apartment together. We’re free from lies, and it’s been a refreshing change.
