After Matt received his late grandpa’s home, he decided to sell it immediately. He didn’t want another burden on his shoulders, as the house needed some renovations to be used properly.

Ben, the new owner, bought the house for a deal under the market.A week had passed, and Matt found a letter in his mail box, from his late grandfather. In the letter, his grandfather wanted Matt to check the basement of his house.

As Matt was shocked, he called Ben and stated that he needed to check something in the basement. As Ben was confused, he accepted.

The house was under renovations when Matt returned back to check the basement. As Ben let him alone, Matt found the hidden door behind a large wardrobe.

As he went back upstairs, Matt wanted to buy the house back. Ben was surprised. He asked why and Matt told Ben that he felt guilty to sell it. Matt stated that the house should stay in the family . He offered five thousand more since Ben started to renovate.

Ben was a smart man. He wanted twenty more. He told him that he can sell it for that price if he wants and that he only had a day.
Matt agreed as he had no other choice. He believed that the hidden room had a treasure in there.

A week later, Matt bought the house back.

Matt then called his friend Clara, who was a historian. She knew the local history, and old houses in the area. She would know what to do with the things Matt would find in the hidden room.

They went to the house together.

In the hidden room, there was a modest chest next to the wall. When Matt opened the chest, he found a letter and a poker chip in there.

“I knew you would sell the house, you fool! I taught you to honor your ancestors and remember your roots. And yet, you sold it. I hope this teaches you a lesson.”

“P.S. I had to put something in this chest, so here’s an old poker chip. It’s worthless! Let’s consider it a lucky charm!”

As Matt was shocked, he started to laugh. His grandpa taught him a lesson even after his passing. He decided to live in there.

As he started to renovate the house, he received help and support from Clara, who witnessed what happened. As they started to come closer, it evolved into love and their union happened in the backyard of the house.
