(VIDEO) Hairstyles of the ’60s were so dramatic

Each era has its own feel and appearance.
In the 1930s, women’s hair was short, while gowns were long. In the 1940s, voluminous padded coats complemented enormous victory roll hairstyles. In the 1960s, however, the game was entirely flipped on its head as fashion developed to suit to a more modern mentality.

Beginning in the mid-1960s, hemlines climbed and haircuts became increasingly diversified. Many different forms of teased bouffant and beehive hairdos were fashionable, as were the powerful flip hairstyle and the ever-popular bangs. However, suppose a woman had a lot of time and money. In that case, she might let a hairstylist absolutely run wild with the hairdo, including employing setting, teasing, cutting, imitation flowers, and even using wiglets, which are half wigs (for anyone not in the know).

The era’s most popular looks were rather large, and the introduction of hairspray and hair gel dramatically changed the way women could do and set their hair.
In addition, with the mod trends in style, hairdos that were sleeker but more intricate were done for special occasions and nights out.

Check out the 1964 film reel footage below, in which actress Joanne Dainton has an extremely stunning 1960s haircut unlike any other.
