Barry Gibb and his son stunned the audience with an emotional duet of “I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You”!

Barry Gibb and his son Stephen Gibb gave a spectacular performance of the Bee Gees’ song “I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You,” leaving the crowd greatly moved.
The duet was performed on June 4, 2014, in the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles as part of Barry’s Mythology Tour, as a tribute to his late brothers and fellow Bee Gees members Robin and Maurice Gibb.

The song, published in 1968, became the Bee Gees’ second number-one single on the UK Singles Chart. It was written by Robin Gibb and depicts the moving story of a man on execution row requesting a farewell message to be sent to his loved one. The father-son duo’s sincere rendition, resonating powerfully with the performance increased the song’s emotional depth.

Stephen Gibb, a musician in his own right and a member of the Gibb Collective (a band founded by the Gibb brothers’ offspring), gave a fresh yet nostalgic spirit to the performance. The cooperation not only celebrated the Bee Gees’ enduring legacy but also emphasized the family’s ongoing contribution to the music industry.

The Mythology Tour was Barry Gibb’s first tour without his brothers, and it was a watershed event in his career.
Barry, accompanied by Stephen and his niece Samantha Gibb, Maurice’s daughter, turned the tour into a family affair honoring Robin and Maurice’s legacy. The poignant duet between Barry and Stephen at the Hollywood Bowl was one of the tour’s highlights, making an indelible effect on audiences and reinforcing the Bee Gees’ music’s enduring appeal.
