The desire to have a child was so intense that it consumed every part of Mia and Mark’s hearts, motivating them to take whatever necessary steps to fulfill it.
They accepted the truth that they would not be having a kid on their own after multiple unsuccessful efforts to conceive and many dollars spent on therapies and IVF.
They ultimately made the decision to adopt. However, everything was not as simple as it seemed.
Mia was left in charge of the process since Mark was so busy managing the company. She had to get in touch with agencies, complete paperwork, and go over lists of kids who needed a loving home.
She was looking through the papers when she noticed a young youngster, perhaps three years old.
They opted to welcome a toddler into their home and hearts after first wanting to adopt a baby but realizing that the prospects were poor.
The youngster Mia was unable to look away from had the most stunning eyes she had ever seen; they were the color of the sky. She felt as though she had known that adorable little kid for ages after seeing his picture.
After everything was finished, they finally took Sam home.
There was no cuter boy than him. Most importantly, during the first few weeks of living with Mia and Mark, he got along well and even began referring to her as “mom.”
Everything appeared to be picture-perfect. Mia felt like the happiest person on the planet when her greatest dream—becoming a mother—came true. Mia was grateful that things worked out well for her and her spouse, and life felt pleasant.
However, one night that began like any other altered everything.
As Sam was ready for a bath, Mark expressed his desire to give the child a bath. Mia believed that the father and son’s relationship would be strengthened by spending some time together alone, and she was pleased that Mark was dedicated to his new duty.
However, Mark said, “We have to give him back!” as he assisted Sam in undressing and getting into the bathtub.
Mia stopped. “What was happening?” she asked herself.
“How can we return a child, Mark?” She questioned him.
However, Mark appeared resolute. He claimed that he was unable to cope with the new life and that the entire event was too much to bear.
Mia was devastated. She was shocked by what her husband had said. The sudden change in his feelings was not typical. She knew, however, that the story was not just what he was telling.
It was a long night. Mia had trouble falling asleep. Then she had an idea, though. Both Mark and Sam were born with birthmarks on the bottom of their feet. She went to Sam’s room to have a closer look at the birthmark. She became aware that his birthmark and Mark’s were nearly the same at that point.
She questioned Mark in the morning about anything he needed to confess. Crushed, he claimed that he felt Sam was his biological son and wanted to return him. He became alarmed upon seeing the birthmark.
Mark had an affair with a woman he met at a bar, it turned out. Mia was devastated to realize that he had cheated on her when she was at her most vulnerable and that she had to endure excruciating IVF procedures, despite his claims that it was only a one-time affair.
Mark clearly felt bad about betraying his wife, but Mia couldn’t go past the fact that he had cheated on her. She was unable to continue being with Mark. Mia became Sam’s only guardian when Mark granted her parental rights.
Though their relationship was restricted to infrequent visits and birthday presents delivered by mail, Mark didn’t entirely vanish from his son’s life.
When Mia saw that Mark was willing to give up on his kid in order to keep his affair from being discovered, she felt she had made the right choice for both herself and Sam.
