Dick Van Dyke Appears In Coldplay Video At Nearly 99 Years Old

Dick Van Dyke, the star from Mary Poppins, is back in the limelight with Coldplay’s new music video, just in time for his 99th birthday celebration. The seven-minute video, filmed at his Malibu home, shows him reflecting on his amazing life and the process of getting older. He shares, “I’m really aware that I could go any day now, but it doesn’t bother me. I’m not scared of it.”

The video features the beautiful song “All My Love,” co-directed by Mary Wigmore and the famous filmmaker Spike Jonze, known for movies like Being John Malkovich and Her. It gives a close and personal view of this entertainment icon. Fans get to see some of Van Dyke’s favorite memorabilia, including a life-sized figure of his character Bert from Mary Poppins. He even performs “The Twizzle,” a fun dance from The Dick Van Dyke Show, while Coldplay’s Chris Martin plays guitar on the patio. To make it even more special, Van Dyke dances barefoot with his wife, Arlene Silver, both wearing bowler hats in a moment that feels like it’s from another time.

The most emotional moment is when Van Dyke honors his kids—Christian, Barry, Stacy, and Carrie Beth. He holds a childhood photo of Stacy and talks about how she brings him comfort in his dreams. Then, his big family, including his grandkids, joins him to sing and dance. At that moment, Martin makes up a brand new song right in front of a thrilled Van Dyke, ending a scene that’s both joyful and surprising.

Fans of The Music Man will really enjoy how the classic charm of the beloved actor mixes perfectly with Coldplay’s contemporary vibe. It’s a unique combination that highlights lasting connections, legacy, and love—perfect for the latest single from the band’s 10th studio album, Moon Music. A shorter version of this heartfelt tribute will come out on December 13, which is Van Dyke’s 99th birthday, making sure this amazing star’s light keeps shining bright.
