Boss Fires Woman Because She Looks ‘Too Old’, Next Day Sends Limo for Her and Begs Her To Return — Story of the Day

Nathan, the owner of a high-end restaurant, was a stickler for appearances. When he entered his restaurant one busy afternoon and saw a customer fuming at a waitress, he immediately stepped in. The waitress, Catherine, had accidentally spilled coffee on the customer’s expensive suit. Nathan, prioritizing the restaurant’s image, quickly offered the patron a free meal and reassured him that the matter would be handled.

Turning his attention to Catherine, Nathan’s irritation flared. “You’re coming to the office with me, now!” he barked. Catherine, who had been employed for only two weeks, looked nervous but followed him.

Once in his office, Nathan wasted no time. “I’ve decided you’re not a good fit for our standards. You’re fired, Catherine!” he declared, dismissing her with a wave of his hand. Catherine pleaded with him, her eyes brimming with tears. “Please, it was an accident! I’m willing to make amends. Just don’t fire me!”

Nathan remained unmoved. “You’re what? 60? 65? We need a younger, more energetic image here. Get out now!” he ordered, his tone final.

The following day, Nathan was about to finalize Catherine’s termination paperwork when he noticed her surname: Wilkinson. The name triggered a distant memory. Nathan’s adoptive mother had once mentioned a Wilkinson in the context of his biological parents. Intrigued and unsettled, Nathan wondered if this woman could be connected to his past.

Driven by curiosity and an unsettling feeling, Nathan called his limo driver. “Mike, I need you to pick up Catherine. Bring her back here immediately and beg her to return if necessary. I’ll send you the details.”

As Nathan waited anxiously, he sifted through the termination papers and found an envelope addressed to him. Inside was a letter from Catherine. As he read, his world turned upside down. Catherine was his birth mother. She had left him as a baby to save him from the criminal life she and her partner, Simon, had been ensnared in. Her letter detailed their desperate circumstances: Simon had fled with their stolen loot, leaving Catherine and their daughter, Elizabeth, in dire straits.

Catherine recounted how, after Simon’s betrayal, she and Elizabeth had been forced into further crime to survive. Their path of crime had led to their capture, with Catherine receiving a 30-year prison sentence while Elizabeth died in prison after continuing to steal. In her letter, Catherine expressed her regret and explained that she had left Nathan with Alice, a trusted friend, to shield him from the dark life she and her family had lived.

Nathan was deeply moved by the letter. His heart ached with compassion and regret for the lost years. Just then, the door opened, and Catherine stepped in, her face a mixture of confusion and hope. Nathan rushed to her, enveloping her in a heartfelt embrace. “I understand now,” he whispered, tears streaming down his face. “You did what you thought was best for me. Please don’t leave me again. I need you.”

As they stood together, the barriers of years and past grievances began to dissolve. Nathan and Catherine, bound by blood and the painful lessons of their past, began the slow, healing process of reconnecting, finding solace in each other’s presence. Their reunion, marked by both sorrow and hope, was a testament to the enduring power of family and forgiveness.
