My 32nd birthday started with joy but took a shocking turn. It all began with a mysterious box that arrived at my door, sent by my husband Dexter’s mistress. The contents of the box shattered my world and left me grappling with disbelief.
The day began beautifully. Dexter greeted me with a warm embrace and whispered, “I’ve got a breathtaking surprise for you later.” Our little son, Dave, added to the excitement, bouncing onto our bed, ready for the party we had planned.
The day passed with laughter, friends, and family. Our backyard was alive with chatter, the smell of grilled burgers, and the sight of kids playing. It seemed like the perfect birthday.
But then my phone rang with an unknown number. An unfamiliar voice told me a parcel awaited me outside, urging me to collect it alone. Curious but wary, I left the party to retrieve the package.

The delivery guy handed me a large box, and as he left, I wondered if this was Dexter’s surprise. Excited, I brought the box to the patio and opened it. Inside, my heart sank. The box contained my missing jewelry set, and a note read: “From your husband’s lover. I’m tired of him picking on you. Come alone to the address below.”
My mind raced. How could Dexter betray me like this? Tears blurred my vision as I realized the gravity of what I was facing. I slipped away from the party, driving to the address on the note, my heart heavy with sorrow and anger.
The address led to an old, abandoned house. The night had fallen, and the eerie silence was unsettling. As I approached the door, doubt crept in. But driven by desperation for answers, I knocked and entered.
The room was dark until lights suddenly flooded the space. To my shock, my friends, family, and Dexter burst in, shouting, “Surprise! Happy Birthday!”
Dexter wrapped me in a tight hug. “The ‘mistress’ and the note were all part of the prank. I replaced your lost jewelry with a replica and wanted to give you an unforgettable birthday.”
Relief and annoyance collided as I processed his elaborate scheme. “You jerk! Do you have any idea what I’ve been through?”
Dexter laughed, pulling me closer. “I’m sorry for scaring you, but I wanted this birthday to be unforgettable.”
Despite my frustration, I couldn’t help but laugh. The tension melted away as I realized the prank was meant with love. “You guys are terrible, but I love you all.”
As we returned to our house to continue the party, I felt a mix of joy and exasperation. Dexter’s elaborate surprise had indeed made this birthday unforgettable. And as for his birthday? I had plans for some creative payback.
