Iris, 78, was thrilled to see her daughter Eliza, 50, marrying Daniel, the man she thought was perfect for her. Iris had planned to gift Daniel her late husband’s diamond cufflinks before the ceremony, but as she approached him, she saw him whisper to Melissa, a bridesmaid and his business partner. They then headed towards the restaurant’s back area.
Curious, Iris followed and saw them enter a bathroom together. She peeked through the door and her heart dropped as she heard Daniel and Melissa discussing their affair. Daniel confessed his intent to divorce Eliza for a big payout and Melissa warned him to be patient.
Heartbroken, Iris rushed to find Eliza, but the ceremony had already started. Eliza was on stage singing a love song to Daniel, who looked at her adoringly. Iris knew she had to expose the truth but couldn’t bring herself to ruin her daughter’s day.
The following Monday, Iris tried to catch Daniel and Melissa in the act. She returned to Eliza’s house after being dropped off at the airport and saw Melissa’s car. Iris called Eliza, pretending her flight was canceled, and asked her to come home immediately. Eliza agreed, and Iris waited anxiously.
When Eliza arrived, Iris showed her the house, where she saw Daniel and Melissa. But to Iris’s shock, they were dressed casually and not in a compromising position. Daniel insisted they were just discussing business. Eliza, torn between trust and doubt, believed Daniel’s story, despite Iris’s insistence that he was cheating and scheming.
Iris was devastated and had a heart attack. At the hospital, she urged Eliza to reconsider Daniel, but Eliza remained convinced of Daniel’s love. In frustration, Iris changed her will to leave her fortune to charity and froze Eliza’s bank accounts. Eliza, angered and hurt, cut off ties with her mother.
After weeks of no contact, Eliza came to Iris’s home, devastated. She admitted that Iris was right about Daniel, who had indeed been using her. They embraced, and though Iris was heartbroken to see her daughter suffer, she was relieved that Eliza had finally seen the truth.
