When a woman’s plan went wrong, her attempt to gauge a blind date’s generosity took an unexpected turn. She made the audacious decision to invite 23 family members in order to gauge her date’s openness to sharing. But things didn’t go as to plan.

The woman’s plan was flawed from the beginning. Mr. Lui, her date, had planned to show her off by taking her and her family to dinner at one of his favorite eateries. But when he got there, he was shocked to see not just her, but her entire 23-person extended family. It made sense that Mr. Lui was hesitant to pay for such a huge party, which resulted in an awkward scenario.

The Taizhou Evening News said that the incident happened in a restaurant in the province of Zhejiang in eastern China. The woman may not have had the best of intentions, but she wanted to see how willing Mr. Lui was to help her and support her family. Sadly, she didn’t quite execute her strategy as well as she should have, especially since it was their first blind date.

It became clear over the meal that Mr. Lui disagreed with the woman’s measure of generosity. Rather than taking the cost in stride, he left abruptly, leaving the woman to deal with the fallout on her own. She was completely liable for the significant 20,000 yuan (about $3,100) bill, which was a disappointing result for her exam.

Even though it was an awkward circumstance, the woman continued. She even brought a lawsuit against Mr. Lui in her frustration. Ultimately, the court decided that he just needed to pay 1400 yuan of the total amount due.

Looking back, the woman’s attempt to gauge her date’s generosity was not only a failure but also quite expensive. Although her intentions were good, this cautionary story serves as a helpful reminder that communication and honesty are more important in relationships than complex character assessments. A solid foundation between two people can be built in large part through trust and honest communication.
