After spending three weeks away on a business trip, I was eager to return home. The familiar comfort of our bedroom was a welcome relief. As I unpacked, I noticed something odd while sorting through Jim’s drawer. Hidden beneath his neatly folded shirts was a box that immediately piqued my curiosity.
Opening it, my heart sank. Inside were various female beauty products—creams, gels, perfumes, and even lingerie—all of which weren’t mine. The sight of these items sent a chill down my spine.
My mind raced with unsettling possibilities. Had Jim been unfaithful while I was gone? The thought of him with someone else was unbearable, and the evidence in that box seemed damning.

Jim’s sheepish grin confirmed Tod’s story. “It was a bet, Sam. I didn’t think it would cause any trouble. I should have thrown everything out after the week ended.”
I sighed, both relieved and exasperated. “Well, next time, maybe don’t make bets that involve hidden boxes of women’s things?”
Jim nodded, apologetic. “I’m really sorry for the scare. I never meant to upset you. Let’s just forget this ever happened.”
As we wrapped up dinner, I joked about how the guys owed me for the scare. Jim eagerly agreed, promising to make it up to me. I decided to cash in on his promise with a vacation we had been planning.
The evening ended on a positive note, with laughter and a renewed sense of understanding. Jim learned his lesson about making bets, and I was reassured of his commitment to our relationship.
