I thought my life was as perfect as it could get. At 32, I was happily married to Alan and enjoyed running a successful flower shop. Our seven-year-old son, Reece, was thriving in private school thanks to Alan’s hard work.
Despite his dedication, Alan was often absent, missing family events and dinners. My mother had warned me to keep an eye on him, sensing something was amiss. I dismissed her concerns—after all, we had been together for ten years and I believed we had a strong marriage.
Then one afternoon, while organizing our bedroom closet, I stumbled upon a secret phone hidden in an old box. It was an outdated model, but it was turned on and had no dust on it. My curiosity got the better of me, and I scrolled through the phone’s contacts, only to find a single number saved: Dylan – Auto Shop.

Confused and intrigued, I decided to investigate. I texted the number but received a message that made my heart race: “Hey, Al. I need you to come to the garage tonight. Midnight. This is important. -D.”
Alan had never mentioned a Dylan or any secretive late-night meetings. That evening, Alan casually mentioned he had to work late. I feigned interest but felt uneasy. After dinner, as Alan left for his supposed office meeting, I followed him discreetly.
He drove to a rundown auto repair shop and, after parking, walked inside. I watched from a distance before sneaking into the garage. Hiding behind some tires, I overheard Alan and Dylan talking and then saw them enter a small office.
Peeking inside, I was shocked to see Alan and Dylan locked in an intimate embrace. My heart pounded as I realized Alan was cheating on me. I gasped, blowing my cover. Alan’s shocked expression mirrored my own pain.
I fled, tears streaming down my face, and drove home in a daze. Alone in our living room, I replayed the scene over and over. My trust shattered, I decided that my marriage was a lie. The next morning, I packed bags for myself and Reece, prepared to leave for my mother’s house and file for divorce.
Alan’s betrayal had rocked my world, but I knew I deserved better than a life built on deceit.
