Business Class Passengers Mock Poor Old Lady, at the End of the Flight Pilot Addresses Her – Story of the Day

Stella Taylor, at 85, had never flown before and was excited about her business class seat. However, when Franklin Delaney saw her, he protested loudly. “I don’t want to sit next to that… woman!” he exclaimed to the flight attendant. “Sir, this is her seat,” the stewardess replied, but Franklin insisted that Stella couldn’t afford the seat and should be moved to economy.

Despite the stewardess’s firm stance, several passengers sided with Franklin, leading to Stella’s humiliation. She decided to move to economy class to avoid further conflict. The stewardess, sympathetic to Stella’s situation, insisted she stay in business class, threatening to call security if necessary. Franklin reluctantly allowed Stella to sit next to him.

During the flight, Stella dropped her purse, and Franklin helped her retrieve her belongings, noticing a ruby locket. As an antique jeweler, he recognized its value. “This is insanely valuable. Are these real rubies?” he asked.

“I don’t know,” Stella replied. “My father gave it to my mother during World War II. He promised he’d return but never did. My mother gave it to me, and I’ve kept it ever since.” She explained that her father was a fighter pilot who never returned from the war. Her mother struggled after his disappearance, but the locket was a treasured keepsake.

Franklin, moved by Stella’s story, learned that Stella’s son, whom she had given up for adoption years ago, was the pilot on this flight. Stella had used her savings to fly and hoped to see him on his birthday. “He’s the pilot on this flight,” Stella said. “I wanted to spend his birthday with him, even if only briefly.”

When the plane approached JFK, John, the pilot, made an announcement: “Welcome my birth mother, who’s flying on my route for the first time. Mom, wait for me after we land.” Stella’s eyes filled with tears. Franklin, ashamed of his earlier behavior, watched as John exited the cockpit and embraced Stella warmly. The passengers and crew cheered, witnessing a heartfelt reunion.

John whispered his thanks to Stella, apologizing for not responding to her previous emails. Stella assured him there was nothing to apologize for, understanding his reasons.
